My work with Indy Shakes
In 2006, I co-founded a professional theatre company, Heartland Actors’ Repertory Theatre (HART) which in 2016 would become the Indianapolis Shakespeare Company, or Indy Shakes. During the first 3 years, I served as company manager - managing contracts, budgets, publicity, grants, and more as we established our 501(c)3 status. Fast forward to 2018, I joined the Board of directors, serving as president from 2019-2021 and treasurer 2022-present. During my tenure, I led the staff and board though a strategic planning process in 2021 and oversaw a budget expansion.
Building a theatre program
In 2013 I took over the theatre program at Marian University. Over the years alongside my colleagues, we grew the program from a handful of interested students in a minor to a vibrant program with a B.A. in theatre, a minor, and many active participants. From 2013 to the launch of our major in 2020, we engineered a 400% growth in course enrollment.
In this video I talk a little bit about the philosophy behind the program and B.A. we developed.
